Scripting so far
February 11, 2008
I can now look at a basic script and feel like I can say with slightly more confidence what each part does. Much better than last week when all I could see was confusing bits of text. I’m still confused on a lot of things but I’m still only on the first floor of College of Scripting.
I copied a mailbox script off the SecondLife forums, then changed a couple things. Nothing major as far as changes and it’s most definitely not my script. You can test it out if you want, it’s at my land. It’s the bottle, cram a notecard into it ![]()
The link to the thread with the script: here. Scroll down to find the correct version!
I don’t know if it will take inventory or landmarks, I don’t think so. Please be careful, you’ll be dealing with a script touched by a beginner. :) I do want to work on it and make it take landmarks too, I think that’d be neat. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Riiight….
Then I set up the Lucky Seat, found at NCI Kuula’s freebie board. It’s a Lucky Chair style item. I dropped the script into another chair I made and edited it up a tiny bit too. Mostly the display text and also the seating vector. I’ve only tested it as a Siamese kitty. There’s two chairs at the time I write this. The one inside the tree is just the chair and three prizes.
The one on the fishing dock is the same script, same three prizes, but I’m trying another script I found on the SL™ Forums. This one will make a list of who clicks it, only counting them once. Then when I reset the list, it’ll start again to count people from scratch. I want to know who sits.
Script for making a list of people: here. Again, scroll through and find the corrections people have noted.
It doesn’t count me though, I’ll have to get on an alt and try it out.
The lucky seat has tiny items in it, three different cushions (like my orange one that is for sale). At this time the only way to get the three cushions is by the lucky chair. Here’s a photo of the three!
