Three completely unrelated topics, but I don’t feel like making 3 blog entries.

First up, have you checked the Status Page?  It’s 9am SL time, and do you know how your SL is?  It’s down!  *twitch*  Ah well, I’m getting stuff done around the house that I had planned for this afternoon.  Next up is to get my workout in so I don’t have to do it later!

Next up, robots!  I saw a banner over at SLExchange last night for a contest at Museum of Robots.  Unfortunately I don’t have a LM I can post since I can’t get in grid to grab it.  But if you scroll to the bottom of that MoR page, there’s a LM to click for later!

I think I will try to build a robot!  100 prim limit, there’s info on how to submit and what categories there are.  Then the robots go on display for a while too!  I have some ideas forming up, just need to get in world to start building to see if what’s in my head looks good in prim form.

Now on to stuff.  I think my 10 minute class is as ready as it can be.  I don’t know if I’m ready, but I think the notes and stuff are set now.  I feel queasy when I think about it.  It’s one thing to help friends with building tips, it’s totally different to intentionally stand in front of a crowd with the plan to teach something.  I stand in front of a crowd for speed/blitz builds and show and tells all the time but for some reason that’s less scary.  Show and Tells do make me queasy though.

The VAA Haiku Blitz makes me less queasy of all the contests I enter.  I don’t know why, maybe because I can’t actually see the bleachers.  I always get the feeling that there’s only a couple watchers and mostly it’s just builders.

I think NCI should try the no-texture rule for the blitz.  That was a lot of fun at TUi’s speed build this past week.  It’d be neat to see how people build just using blank (no plywood!) and colors, shine and so on.  Then no one would have to load a zillion textures :)  Nice side bonus, especially for Bevvy who always seems to have the worst time rezzing our builds eek.

Well I guess I’ll go do some laundry and clean the bathroom now.  SL is still down.

Wait, no.. first up.. food.

(Edit hah, as I finish writing I see SL is just slowly coming back up about 9:15am SL)

Yay!  Thanks to everyone who took the time to look over all the great logo entries and place votes.  Tonight they announced the finalists.  Me and Brandie Carver, yay us! :)  I loved the apple logo!

Wahoo, yay for prize $L just for having fun drawing up a logo!  Thanks guys!

They’re putting together a logo using both our ideas, to make one final logo.  There’s one on display at TUi but I don’t know if that’s the final logo or not?  I think it might be, it’s cute! :)

Now I can show you which entry was mine.

Please go vote!  You don’t have to vote for me!  Just go vote and show your support for all of us who built backyards :)

Take a walk through, the path leads through each project and onto the next.  Then at the end step back into the white area with all the Dreams info and stuff.  There will be a small seat, and big board with images.  Sit, then you click them in order of 1, 2, 3.. then click “Vote” and click the blue box of “Yes” (or no, if you  messed up)

Then you’re done!

Whoever you vote for will surely appreciate the time you took :)

Sometimes I’m a tuxedo kitty :)  Nomnomming on fishes.

I rented ad space at TUi today! :)

Please vote out at Dreams on Monday :)

Voting lasts a week I think!  Just vote, not necessarily fo rme (although that’d be neat!) but just look the entries over and vote.  Everyone who’s entered has worked so hard on their builds and it’ll be great if people come by to actually see them!

Please vote this weekend!

Please!  Go vote! :)  I have one entry on the board.  I don’t know if it’d be poor sportsmanship to state which one is mine while voting is happening.  So, just go vote :)

The rules said people could enter up to three entries, but I only have the one entry.  Voting lasts a couple days, I don’t know when it ends but go sooner than later if you are gonna vote :)  The contest is to design a new logo for TUi to use in their newsletter and on the website.

The winner gets their logo used, obviously hehe.   Actually, I don’t know if there is any other prize, I only joined to get to make a logo and have people see it.  So at least I get bragging rights.   I get to say I entered the great TUi logo contest of May 2008! :)

Please vote :)

I braved up and held my first real tournament at my land tonight at 8:30pm SL time :)  30 minutes, with 100L to first place.   It was so much fun, thank you all for joining me!  People are welcome to fish at any time, just please keep in mind my plot of land is in a PG rated area :)

I announced it tonight in 7seas chat as well as Raglan Shire chat, hopefully the second was okay to do eek.. I debated about announcing it or not.  I just wanted to fish with some tiny friends too!  I’m glad I did though, two tinies joined in! :)  Morticia won 1st place and 100L (grats Morti!!)  Then there was also (in no particular order, because I cannot remember the order) Arcana, N17, Crazy126, and Castora all there fishing and they all did great too.

Some rods dinged, some great fish caught, and it was just nice to hang out with everyone.

Thanks again for joining me :)

I’ll host another one soon.  I think Wednesday nights may become a regular tournament but I’ll give it a shot next week to make sure I am able to commit to hosting it.  Worried about putting myself on the official list then missing a tournament because I forget I’m supposed to host hehe!  I’d like to host another one during the week, maybe earlier in the evening as well.  I’ll see where an open spot is! :)

Well.. there we go.  Yay for a tournament! :)

Dreams Speed Build, NCI Show and Tell

Yesterday I entered the speed build at Dreams.

I had actually entered when I first started in SL I think, but the lag was soooo bad. I’d repeatedly crash, get IM’s from griefers, get griefed while on the sandbox during non contest hours. I couldn’t take it. I quit going. It was far too frustrating.

I’ve been back quite a bit to Dreams land, and it’s lovely. I went to their Fair, I’m entered in the Backyard contest, I’ve done a speed build. There is a bit of lag, but no worse than any other sim. No crashing for the last week, no griefing, no disgusting IM’s making reference to either of my avatar shapes I tend to be in.

I’m glad I gave Dreams another chance, it’s very nice. The people who are involved with dreams are nice too.

I guess the griefers gave up and found a new sim to harass.

Last night the speed build theme was: Pinata!

Hard to see I guess, but it’s a tiger and a calico waiting on the candy to fall from the mouse pinata hehehe. It’s up on display ALL week out at Dreams! :) It’s just oustide the teleport area in the grassy area on the corner. (Right next to my Backyard plot decorating contest entry)

It’s a whole area of ME!

Then last night I showed at NCI’s Show and Tell.  I love it!  It’s fun forcing you people to look at my work :)  I showed off the cat treehouse that’s on my backyard plot contest entry.  Yay!  I love seeing what everyone’s making.  :)

Oops, sorry.. no photo of it yet.  I’ll get one when I finish the entire scene.

Mice are full of candy.
